Introducing the 1:48 San Francisco Row House

Victorian Fusion
What happens when a retro-loving graphic designer stumbles upon a miniature house small enough to fit into a shoe box? An experiment in miniature interior design is born. And if jumping from graphic design into interior design isn't enough of a challenge, why not try to contemporize a Victorian mansion?

This house was an eBay score and is a 1:48 scale kit designed by a Virginia Beach small business, It is about 13 inches long and nine inches tall. The ceiling heights are two and a half inches high. It is TINY! Never-the-less, it is possible to get great detail and wonderful design into a house this small almost as much as the popular, larger houses. Here's a little peak into the construction and more photos of the finished rooms will launch next month, so check back with this blog for some design goodness.

The interiors are clean, elegant and industrial-chic inspired while retaining Victorian elements like wainscoting and traditional staircases. The house is a neutral pallet to allow for trend changes and easy application of bright colors, textures and patterns later.

Some rooms break away from the industrial-chic style and incorporate my use of graphics and my love for graphic design.  Besides, a home is a house that reflects you; a home is a self-portrait. So stay tuned for updates on a house for a retro-loving, eclectic, hipster graphic designer.
